Living in a fairytale land / Satumaista maisemaa



I said that I would write about the university but I have to put some pictures first since I have been in couple of an amazing places during these two weeks. Today I spent an amazing day in Brownsea Island which is only 20 min by boat from Poole Harbor. It was just beautiful. The nature in this reserve was amazingly diverse. It had thick forests where you could hear only birds singing and there was no one in sight. The air was so fresh that I sat there actually smelling the air for quite a while. I could JUST restrict myself from hugging the trees cos if there would be a place to hug trees - that would have been it :p The island also had beautiful sandy beaches and large areas suitable for camping. And small fact for scouts - this was actully the place where Robert Baden-Powell arranged the first camp for 20 boys in 1907 which was the beginning of the scouts movement.

Tarinat yliopistosta saa odottaa koska olen nähnyt kahden viikon aikana pari upeaa paikkaa joista haluan laittaa kuvia. Jotkin paikat tuntuivat siltä kun olisi ollut keskellä satua, tai aivan toisessa ajassa... Tänään vietin upean sunnuntain läheisellä Brownsean saarella.

This "castle" is private property. Which I found out when I was leaving through a massive gate. I was trespassing by accident (really by accident) because I decided to be adventurous and go through bushes :) But it was worth it! // Tämä "linna" on yksityistä omaisuutta. Se selvisi minulle vasta lähtiessäni kun huomasin suuret kyltit massiivisessa portissa. Päädyin vahingossa pihalle koska päätin seikkailla puskien läpi. Mutta se oli sen arvoista :)

Tämä kivi on pystytetty niille huudeille joilla partiolaisten "isä" Robert Baden Powell ja 20 poikaa leireili 1907. Leiri oli ensimmäinen partioleiri ja se aloitti maailmanlaajuisen partioliikkeen.

Nature reserve. I saw atleast a pheasant, peacocks, squirrels, a lot of birds (many of the people in there would have passed out because i just call them birds overall but they walked with huge binoculars and i cannot regocnise any other ones besides the ones I already mentioned) and luckily just a few people.

 Luonnonsuojelualue. Näin ainakin fasaaneja, riikinkukkoja, oravia ja paljon lintuja (siellä oliisi ollut paljon porukkaa jotka olisivat osanneet nimetä parisataa lintua lisää mutta minun tietoni loppuivat näihin kahteen). Yleisesti ottaen tunnelma oli yksinkertaisesti upean rauhallinen ja ilma tuoksui niin raikkaalta. Kyllä siellä sielu lepäsi :)

Durdle Door. This an another trip to a bit further. Jurassic coast is one of the natural world heritage sites.

Tämä onkin sitten jo toinen reissu vähän kauemmaksi. Jurassic coast on yksi luonnonmukaisista maailmanperintökohteista.

They helped us to imagine the residents living and fighting in this 1000 years old castle. It was quite magnificent to be standing inside of the ruins...

Seistessäni raunioiden sisällä yritin kuvitella minkälaista tuossa linnassa oli asua silloin kun se 1000 vuotta sitten rakennettiin. Ulkopuolella sai sitten vähän apuja mielikuvitukselle näiltä näyttelijöiltä.
